Launching the Windows Vista for Beginners Blog

Since it's launch, our site has evolved quite a lot: we published around 140 articles, we added new features, content categories, improved the navigation and the quality of our writing. In the months to come we would like to continue this process of evolution and offer much more to our visitors.

The newly created blog section will be used to inform you of the changes to come, share our learning and build a stronger relationship with our readers.

Due to the fact that many of the articles published in this section will not be related to Windows Vista, most of them will not be published on the front page of our site. We will do our best to keep on the front page only the most important articles and announcements.
You can monitor what we publish on the blog by visiting the site section or by subscribing to the separate RSS feed we have created.

If you have any idea about how to improve our site, don't hesitate to leave a comment.

Help! I'm trapped!

Fellow citizens, I am a 50 yr. old veteran and this is my first PC. I have had it for about 5 months. I love this toy so very much that my hands are on it than on my woman. My problem is, I just can't seem to go further than the video based sites. I can write and answer mail, print stuff, but mainly, I am always on some kind of video site or another! How sad. I am losing out on so much of what my pc can do. Did anyone out there have the same problem or am I the only idiot out there that can't do the other hundred or so things that the normal pc user can do?

Details

I do not understand what problem you are having. Can you please explain it better?

Ciprian asked...

What I mean is, I know that this PC can do so much more than what I am currently doing on it. I do not know about files, how to really get the most out of sites like My Space, Flickr, etc. This is what I mean. I do understand that I need to get a digital camera if I want to up-load something and other equipment to accessorize my PC life. I have run into alot of really cool documentaries. Can I get a blank CD and down-load these videos for later use? Stuff like this...

General Computing

Hi,
It seems to me that you need someone to teach you all the basics about computing.
You can search for some courses in your area or buy some books about it.
On this site we try to teach people about Windows Vista. We do not cover things such as MySpace, YouTube, etc.

GEE, I get EXACTLY what "smack me 420" MEANS!!!

Dear "sm420": YEAH...Listen>>> FIRST,just decide which things you are MOST interested in, then , simply begin looking for relevant sites, AND PRESTO!, (before you can become self-critical, AGAIN), you HAVE THE NECESSARY motivation to learn how to set up & organize files, & ETC. , AFTERWHICH, one thing leads to another, & before you know it, you can get around your pc as well as anyone! . . . I understand how hard it is to sit down at a pc alone & try to muddle through by reading instructions over & over again, JUST TO LEARN. THAT'S HARD!!! EVEN with the BEST built-in HELP PAGES, it is SO SLOW & TEDIOUS . . . So naturally, you just give up & do ANYTHING you can (watch movies)...>>> WHILST TRYING to cope with the growing FRUSTRATION of KNOWING you are MISSING OUT!...>>>NOT TO WORRY! . . . I REITERATE, FOCUS ON FINDING ALL OF THE WAYS YOU CAN FURTHER ENJOY all of your favorite things ONLINE. Then, #1. Pick a personal passion, #2. Find relevant resources & sites, &,#3. See how quickly you will be able to learn ONE STEP at a time, toward fully enjoying your pc, & your favorite things! . . . Please let me know how you are doing when you have the time! mklAnnKris
