Shock Sticker

Note stickers are one of the most useful things ever created. We use them to remind ourselves or others of future chores, ideas that are worth remembering, etc. The problem people might have when using note stickers is that the working space can become rather messy and finding a previous note can become time consuming. This can be easily fixed with the help of virtual note stickers programs. Shock Sticker is a free virtual note sticker application. This program helps you easily create note stickers, memos and can also be used as a scheduler. It also has some other additional functions such as: alarm, password, and hiding features.

Good things

One of the first things I enjoyed were the available customization options. You can quickly choose the preferred color theme for every note/memo and you can also define your own colors. The program also has transparency features and every note can be easily resized, minimized or hidden away from the desktop.

Shock Sticker

Shock Sticker is intuitive and easy to work with. It doesn’t eat up memory space so you can create as many note stickers as you like without having to worry about your computer slowing down.

Also, you can send a memo to somebody from your network if that person is using the same application. If you accidentally deleted a note/memo you can quickly recover it by opening the Recycler Manager.

Shock Sticker

Searching messages that are currently opened is very quick and you can easily find what you are looking for. Searches are done also in the locked notes but you are asked for a password if you want to view their content. Reminders are very easy to set. You can schedule a note/memo to appear on you desktop at the desired time and you can also place a password so that the only one able to read the note/memo is you or the people with whom you have shared your password.

Things that could be improved

The installer looks very old and this makes a bad impression about the program itself for the newcomers. Also, the first time you open the program the note stickers look rather unpolished. However, this is easily fixable with the help of theme colors and transparency but it would have been great if this was done by default.

The sounds that the notes/memos make are annoying to hear. It's good that you can easily turn them off from the Option window. The last problem I found was related to the recovery process: you have the option to recover accidentally deleted files but unfortunately this option doesn’t work. An easy fix to this is to copy the message from the preview window.

Shock Sticker

Conclusion

This program is very useful and very practical. It’s pretty cool and it’s sticky (I always wanted to say this without sounding kinky, thanks for that too). It has all the things that a virtual note sticker should have and it goes even further then your average needs. I like it and as an advice, don’t think of this as just another program because it may surprise you. If you need or want a virtual note sticker, give Shock Sticker a try.

Sticky note?

Hi,
I cannot see the point in downloading this, you already get sticky notes TWICE in Windows vista home premium, one is in the factory shipped gadgets, the other one is built in to Vista, simply type in "sticky" in the vista built in search. There you go, yes you could argue about more ways to tweak "shock sticker" but how geeky do you want a note too be? Also if you got Office 2007 you got a lot more flexibility in OneNote by highlighting what you want on a web page then sending via the IE7 plug in to OneNote. Then you can add your own notes etc!

about stickynotes

Try which ever sticks with you best.
Why this sticky note(?):
- Well, it walks like a sticky note, it talks like a sticky note and the more you have to choose from the better you/we are.
- The tweaks are the things that make this look non-geeky and also make it stand out from your other more traditionally looking sticky notes.
In the end know that everybody is free to choose. The problem appears when you/we don't have the liberty of choice.

About Shock Sticker...Is it buggy, or what?...

I have tried several times to install this app., as I REALLY want the alarm feature (or, at least to TRY it). It just will NOT work for me... The download appears to have installed, but none of the shortcuts work at all, except for the dashboard, which WILL pop out a note, but nothing else... ALSO, UNLIKE the box in the tutorial, the download has no ALARM, or other special feature. On the other hand, it DOES have a QUESTION & ANSWER link, & also a HELP link---BUT NEITHER OF THEM WORK! ... I searched online to see if I could find other versions of this download, but no luck! The version which downloads from this site is v2.93, HOWEVER IT IS NOT THE SAME AS THE ONE IN THE TUTORIAL. I am wondering if anyone knows where to find the TUTORIAL download, or understands something I don't! Thanks!

Hope this helps

I reinstalled the program and am using 2.93 (as I did when I wrote the article):
- Open the progam -> open a new note. In the top-left corner of the note-stick you have 3 buttons(the last I am talking about is the blue "F" button). Click on the first one and you will see there is an alarm option (the 5 option from the bottom-up). Click on it and then all you need to do is to set the desired time.

The help link is http://www.docs.kr/entry/Help-Shock-Sticker-en. It has probably changed because when I first wrote this, it worked.

Thank-You. Problem Solved.

Well, now I understand the "missing" features!!! . . . It is still a pain to download, however I managed to find one download site, which worked okay. Thank-you for the assistance! mklAnnKris
