In the 4th episode of our series, I would like to present to you the Windows Vista Magazine website. As you can imagine, this is the official website of the magazine with the same name. Both the site and the magazine were launched shortly before Windows Vista was launched. Since then it has cumulated lots of contents, split into the following categories: Blogs, Windows Vista Help, Guides, Shop and Message Boards.
Good things
Here are some of the things you might enjoy on this site:
Message Board - on the Windows Vista Magazine forum you will find a pretty large and active community. The last time I checked they had 11100 users and plenty of active topics. If you have problems with your PC, chances are you will find someone there knowledgeable enough to help you.
Windows Vista Help - here you will find a series of most frequently asked questions about Windows Vista and their answers. If you are not very familiar with computers and Windows Vista, you should definitely check out this section.
Blogs section - in this section you can find the latest articles published by a list of selected blogs, including our site. Some of the content you can find here is quite good.
Top Articles
While browsing through their Guides section I managed to find some interesting articles:
The title of the articles - while reading the articles you will notice that some are advertised as being about Windows Vista when they are, in fact, presentations of commercial applications created by different software companies. This is a bit misleading and I really think that titles should give you an idea about what you are going to read and not promise something else.
Blogs section - implementing this section was a great idea but it could also use a little improvement. Even though you will find lots of good articles in here, there is also a bit of "junk" which is not exactly relevant to the target audience of the magazine. Filtering a bit the sites or articles published in this section can be useful for the readers of the site.
Conclusion
Even though most of the sections on this site forward you to articles published on other websites, it is still worth checking out. The forums are very active and some of the guides posted on the site are really good. Windows Vista Magazine is definitely worth checking out.
