I have set up Vista mail when i use this, it deletes the mail on my wifes pc, we both use the same email address, but i would like to get mine through Vista mail. Is there anyway that i can stop this setup pulling the mail off her pc? I have ticked the dont load the emails at this time. Regards DOUG

Please explain...

Can you please explain once again what is the current setup and what are you trying to accomplish?
I really don't understand what you wrote.

vista mail and xp mail

I have vista on my PC ,when i setup vista mail,on my computer it deletes the mail on my wife's PC which is using XP.is there a way that i can use vista mail and not delete the mail on her pc.? We both use the same email address and both receive the same email simultaneously. I would prefer to use vista mail instead of our current one which is yahoo. I hope this explanation is more detailed, for you to understand. regards lolleypop

explaining

Let me see if I got this right:

- you have 2 computers, one with Vista and one with XP.
- you have one yahoo mail account
- you want to use Windows Mail to receive emails from the yahoo account
- you want the emails that are in the yahoo account inbox to remain unread.

So far is this correct?

the emails in the wife's pc

the emails in the wife's pc are being deleted immediately the vista account is setup, i would like them to remain in her email inbox, so that she can read them at her leisure

Ohhh....

Another question:

Your wife is accessing her mail by going to the Yahoo Mail website, in Internet Explorer? She does not use a mail application like Outlook Express, Outlook or Thunderbird. Right?

And you are viewing the same mails from your computer using Windows Mail. You do not go to the Yahoo Mail website.
Correct?

You have hit the nail on the

You have hit the nail on the head, this is correct. As i have said if i set up vista a/c, it deletes my wifes mail, which is on IE7

this is correct, at present

this is correct, at present i have closed vista a/c down untill such time as this problem is sorted.

Great!

I'm glad we cleared this out. The solution is pretty easy. I will describe it to you as soon as I manage to find some time.

Solution

This is what you do:

1. Login to your Windows Vista PC and start Windows Mail.
2. Go to Tools -> Accounts.
3. Select your Yahoo mail account and click on Properties.
4. Go to the Advanced tab, and in the Delivery section check the option Leave a copy of messages on the server.
5. It is also a good idea to check the option Remove from server when deleted from "Deleted Items".

Now everything should be OK. Tell me how it went.

Ciprian, your a genius! it
