Updating Definitions

Howdy --
I've begun getting this message every time I start my computer ...
"Could not locate a valid definitions file. Please go to the Program Options page and click Update Definitions to download a definitions file."
The window on which this message appears simply says "Error" at the top.
Where in blazes is this so-called "Program Options" page, and why doesn't Vista automatically go fetch whatever it needs in the first place?

valid definitions file, Program Options page, Update Definitions
Well, I'll join in with the rest.....We all seem to be having the same problem and I have not found a solution in any of these comments, except the one that says take it to Best Buy. I refuse to do that because of some horrible customer practices that I have had happen to me and that I have heard about from friends and others on-line (BEWARE of BEST BUY -- they are fine as long as you don't have any problems). Anyway....does anyone have step by step instructions on how to resolve this issue?

This sounds like your antivirus or antispyware program definitions are not up to date and Vista is warning you to update them. Similar to what the security center service did in XP by warning you when your firewall was turned off or automatic updates was also off. Go into your antivirus or antispyware program and make certain they are up to date. If not, update them manually with the latest definitions. Now reboot or log off and see if the error message comes back.

the fix
The way you fix this problem is goto:
1)start
2)control panel
3)programs "unistall a program"
4)click on "spy sweeper"
5)Choose Uninstall
then reinstall spy sweeper
imho you don't need spy sweeper anyhow
Definitions File
I have been getting the Error message Go to Program Options and download the Definition page. Now I have the internet open and this is where I arrived. However there are no instructions on how to download this data. Please advise if any one is out there. I have webroot spy ware and Norton Antivirus. I also have a lot of automatic downloading from AOL happening from time to time.
