Error loading drivers for hardware connected through USB ports

Anyone else had any problems installing printers or modems?
I have tried to load a modem and it installs everything, but wont auto detect when the modem is connected. Vista itself realises I plugged it in, but the installation process sticks as if i haven't plugged it in.

I tried to install the printer drivers after and it did the same thing. The printer software is installed, but when the printer is connected the software wont detect that it is to continue with the installation.

Anyone know what to do?

Thanks

David

You may try using a better quality USB cable to connect the printer to the computer. I had a similar poblem connecting my printer and changing the USB cable helped.

Drivers

Are you running x64 or x86? Drivers for many USB devices are not available, and may never be available for Vista 64 platforms. I just found that out myself, because I have three USB devices that are not working, and I can't find Vista 64 bit drivers anywhere.
