Home Network (LAN)

I just purchased my first computer running Vista Home Premium 64 bit edition. I cannot get it to network with my other two computers that are running WIN XP Home Edition. The two XP computers are talking to each other, but the XP computer will not recognize the Vista computer, nor will the Vista computer recognize either of the other computers.

I must be missing something, but I have checked every thing I can find. I also ran a program called Network Magic. It pronouced everything OK. I can log onto the Internet with the Vista computer either wireless or wired.

I also just acquired an HP C7280 All-in-one printer that has wireless capability, and if I cannot connect to my home network, its wireless feature is useless.

Any advice will be appreciated.

The information provided by

The information provided by you is not complete to provide you with an informaton. Home networking are of two types Ad Hoc and infrastructure , Also it would be better if you provide the inforation of the network setup. It is recommended that you disable all the firewalls on the computer before you create any network also ensure that you enable the file and print sharing on the computers,

printer shows as "off line"

I have not had any problems with my Vista & HP printer until yesterday. than the printer would not work & when I went to the control panel it showed as off line. how do I enable the printer. I checked my all in one and it is shown as connected to my system (wi fi)

Check your Router

I have 2 computers at home. 1 running Vista, the other XP Pro. I have no issues connecting from Vista to XP Pro, but I can no longer connect to my Officejet printer from Vista. The printer is installed on the XP Pro computer.

I got on the MS/Vista website and found a diagnostic program, which I ran. The program showed that my Router (wifi) was not uPnP compatible with Vista, hence the printer issue. However, as I said, I have no problems getting on to the XP computer over the same Router. Go figure... Hope this helps somebody...

BTW, there are no Vista drivers for my printer, in case someon was going to suggest that. Thnx
