Cannot install HP printer

I have just bought a new sony vaio with Vista Home Premium installed, and am trying to get to grips with the new OS....I cannot, annoyinghly install my old printer even though it should do so easily. The printer is a OfficeJet 5510, Vista supports this model or so says the HP website. I get an error message before installation is complete saying I do not have administrator rights, even though I do. Any ideas of a way around this ?

Run as administrator
When running the setup file that installs the driver, right-click on it and select "Run as administrator". It might work.

Cannot install HP Printer
I could not install a Lexmark OR an HP Printer-Scanner-Copier. Both had updated drivers.
I spent 5 hours on the phone with Lexmark Support and 7 hours on the phone with HP, and neither of them could resolve the problem. I had purchased my computer with Vista from Dell and spent 5 hours with Dell Support and they could not solve it either. I called a Microsoft Certified Technician and he made a house call and couldn't solve it either. So he reformatted my computer! Bingo, the HP Printer connected on the first try. Hope you don't have to go through this, but it's a last resort if you have to.
hp all in one 5610 install
i have a hp desktop to my printer, copier and fax. i have a toshiba laptop hooked through a router, but cannot get the laptop to install to the printer. it alwas says print spooler not working to restart spooler, but i have tried to no avail. can anyone help me with this problem. thanks johnny
first, check in hp website
first, check in hp website if your printer driver is supported by vista.if not download new driver and re- install.

I have a new compaq sr5501p desktop pc running vista home basic. I am using a wireless home network. After many tries to install the printer i got it installed and useable from the other two PC's on my network. The problem is that I cannot set the printer as the default printer on the Compaq(that is the PC that I have the printer hooked to). I can acess the Compaq from other PC's and print just fine from them, but I can't print most things from the Compaq PC. I need help with this.

My Canon Scanner-not supported. My printer-not supported. Would you uninstall and do XP if you had the option?
computer problems
Maybe some desktops have a hardware configuration conflict with the printer and no matter how much you try and even if you have the best drivers in the world... It will simply not work. It happened to me and I had to change some of my hardware.

I have a HP all in one the printer and copier are ok but the scanier wont work
