I didn't quite understood what is it you would like to do. As far as I understand you would like to associate files with WMPlayer (Am I right?). You can use the Open with and select always open; or start up->in the search box->type set defaults -> Set your defaults programs-> select Windows Media Player from the list->Choose defaults for this program.

Also would recommand this links:

If you can't find Windows Media Player then type Windows Media Player in the search box from the start up menu.

Thanks lorin, just wanted to make media player11 to appear on Vista.I am volunteering to help Senior people with their new PC's.Also opened that link u provided and read about MP11.An IT friend showed me once how to 'select all' and it has come in handy.
