Icons for Word have changed

Hello! I'm running Vista Ultimate and I noticed "out of the blue" that my shortcut for Word located on the Start menu no longer shows the typical Word icon. As a matter of fact, those Word icons no longer show at all whether I'm viewing in Windows Explorer or on the Start Menu. Somehow, it appears that these were changed to some default icon that I hate. Any way to fix it? My other software programs all look fine.

I did notice this started after Vista decided to run scandisk one morning for some reason although my PC had been running fine. I took a screen shot of it and attached it below. Can anyone help?

Will look into this

We will try to look into this and publish an article about how to fix it as soon as we can.
It might take a while though since these days we are pretty busy with other things, separate from this site.

Thanks

I'd appreciate you looking into this. I've not been able to find any fixes for it as of yet.

Hope this helps@bhsher

Insert Office CD and after it loads, click on repair. Once it is done maybe it will work. Another solution would be to just reinstall the whole program. I know this might not seem as a good viable solution since it's time consuming but considering the time you've spent for a solution...
Anyhow, if I can remember an easier solution or a more practical one then those mentioned I will probably mention them or you will read about it in a future article.

I had the same thing happen.

I had the same thing happen. I tried repairing it twice then I finally decided to remove and re-install the programs only to have the same "weird" icon show up. What finally worked was right clicking on the icon and choosing "open with" ( even if it already says it is opening with Microsoft Word) and going to the winword application (Which is actually Microsoft Word 2003 or whatever version you may have) in Microsoft Offiice, and choosing this. If it does not work the first time DO IT AGAIN. Good Luck!
