Flash Drives in Vista

I have Vista Home Premium and it refuses to accept my flash drives in the USB port. I have tried three different ones and if I get it to work for 2 minutes when I try to write to it it hangs the system. Any help?
Please!

Make USB Flash Drives Vista Compatible

Place the XP version of usbstor.inf and usbstor.PNF
files into the Vista windows/inf directory and replug the drive.

Make sure the Flash drive is plugged into a USB 2.0 port and
ReadyBoost will be available.

Worked for me on TravelDrive 2 GB p/n 32509077

OMG!!! You have to try this!

Luckily I had a flash drive that worked and copied the files over to Vista and the worked! It booted up like there was no problems! I wonder why Vista did not have these files installed. What bothered me about this problem was that the flash drive that worked was a PNY attache 2gb and the ones that did not work were a PNY attache 1gb and a 4gb...

vista sucks

i cannot believe i wasted money on vista...this thing sucks...i means nothing is compatible and everything is a problem...its more headache than anything else i hate it

Vista and USB Drives

I agree - WIndows VISTA SUCKS for hardware support and MicroS*** is making everyone follow their eveolutionary course of financial gain. Someoneday very soon, someone is going to release a FREE or GPL/OpenSource version of an OS that has features and functionality that like WinBlows and they are going to begin losing money. Personally, I can't wait for that day... I have spent waaay too much time in my lifetime diagnosing and repairing Windows F******s and I am sick and tired of it.

Yesterday I bought a Memorex Traveldrive 8GB and VISTA keeps saying it needs drivers (bullshit) and of course, VISTA won't assign it a dletter or do ANYTHING with it. As far as I'm concerned, VISTA is a p****. I'm taking this USB stick back to Circuit City, getting my money back and buying a hard drive so I can create a new bootable disk with Linux. ****

Uninstall the driver

I tried the comment about searching system32 for the correct driver after having same problem with an old Seitec flash pen.
Vista says I already have the correct driver installed, but the pen is still not seen.
I decided to uninstall the driver, and hey presto the thing was immediately spotted without even searching for new driver.

Memorex Mini Travel Flash Drive

This is such a pain. I have my Resume on the Flash drive. I used it on XP with no problem. Now I upgraded to Vista and that was the worst thing ever. I can't access the drive and files I have stored. I tried every solution recommended....no success.

16 gig flash

i'm having a slightly different problem with mine. it will recognize it but i keep getting corrupt files with it. i'm trying to backup all my mp3s and i can only get a few hundred meg or so and then the rest won't play. i've tried two different drives on my 2 computers. both have the same issue. this is with vista also. any ideas?
