Windows closing PictureProject program

Whener I'm editing pictures using PictureProject and attempt to apply the crop function in any picture a message pops up that PictureProject has stopped working and that "Windows will close program and notify you if a solution is available." but no notification is ever made and the problem remains unsolved. This problem never surfaced with Windows XP.
