I bought a new Toshiba laptop with Vista installed and have had the same problem for the entire time. Click in any window of any program and the window can minimize and jump around. This happens more times than not. I'm using the mousepad.
The window starts off big and gets smaller, or it minimize when I click anywhere in it. For instance, I can be playing a game of chess which comes with the system and I click on a piece, suddenly the window is smaller and to the left. Or it will minimize.
Hello,
Here is an answer.
The touch pad sensitivity set too high try to lower it.
Also go to control panel > mouse > Device Settings. Around here, if not see another setting button, something called "tap zones". Turn it off.
Please come back with an replay.
I too have a Toshiba laptop with Vista. I had the same annoying problem. If you look down by your clock you will see an icon called Synaptics Pointing Device. Double click it. From the tabs at the top, on the far right is Device Settings, choose it. You will see a settings button, click it. A new box shows up, in the left pane click virtual scrolling. Virtual scrolling lets your pad act as a mouse wheel, except it does it horizontally too. Un-check both horizontal and vertical scrolling. So far my programs don't jump around and re-size themselves since I changed this.
Oh and thanks to the guy who answered with the tap zones response.. It sent me in the right direction to find those settings above.
By expanding the 'Tapping' option and then the 'Tap Zones' option, it will list the four corners of the touch pad plus an option to adjust the size of these zones. This feature allows you to assign a short cut to common windows actions by simply tapping a designated area of the touch pad. By deselecting the 'Enable Tap Zones' option, this will turn the feature off and remedy the problem. By leaving it on you can select each zone and the corresponding action that will be performed when that area is tapped. For example, selecting 'Top Right Action' and scrolling and selecting 'Minimize current window' from the list at the right will cause the current window to minimize any time the top right corner of the touch pad is tapped. Combined with sensitivity settings as mentioned above, you should be able to customize the touch pad to your individual needs.
What do you mean?
What do you mean by "they jump around"? Can you please be more specific?
