This hasn't been a problem until recently... now I get an error message that states 'an error is preventing Photo Gallery from saving this picture'. It will save changes made by rotating ONLY not cropping or color changes.
Hi there , I had the same problem too! I got on to Micrsoft Support and they asked me to remove Kodak software . which I have just done and now I have no problem with saving edited photo's any more . If you have a third Party photo editing software , try removing it and see how you go . Good luck!! Regards Margy Jr.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I NEVER REALIZED IT COULD HAVE BEEN A SOFTWARE PROGRAM. JUST FIGURED EVERYTHING TO DO WITH PHOTOS SHOULD BE OK. MY EDITING TOOLS ARE WORKING FINE AND FINALLY I AM ABLE TO SAVE MY PHOTO EDITS AGAIN. WHEW!
My computer told me that a recent program download could cause this and realizing the only recent program at that time was kodak, I took a shot in the dark and removed the program and it solved the problem as quickly as it started.
When you try to save a jpg with any photo editor and you get the error trying to save I found the problem is a corrupt copyright field in the details page of the file's properties.
You can get properties on the file in question go to details tab. scroll down to Copyright un Origin section and remove the characters. Select apply close the file and you're back in business.
I found this in freshly uploaded as well as pre-existing. When uploading same files from same source using same tranfer method to another vista pc with same secturity patches installed the files had no copyright value problems. Still trying to find out what is causing the field to become corrupt. ( unrecognizable character sets populating the field.
I'm having the same problem but there's no characters for me to delete! I have also tried removing Kodak software and deleting some process that can stop you saving but none have worked (well, removing kodak enabled me to edit one pic then went back to normal). Any other ideas?
I've been having the same problem and came across this answer after searching for ages. My copyright field had no characters to delete, so I tried adding some and that works! It's a bit of a fiddly workaround but for the first time in ages, I don't have to crick my neck to look at photos on my PC and laptop!!
It's not working for me to either add or delete characters (there were no characters there, so I tried adding and it got me nowhere). At this point, I've had so many Vista issues that make no sense, I'm going to buy a Mac and throw this piece of crap in the trash.
i discovered i couldn't edit one particular photo. it was from my mobile like all the others but this one kept giving me this same error when i tried to edit it (just a simple rotate was all i wanted). i tried for ages to sort it and finally was able to save the edited photo:
in windows photo gallery click on file then on properties
click on details tab
at bottom, just above ''ok, cancel and apply'', there is a ''remove properties and personal info'' link. click it.
in the new window change to ''remove the following properties from this file''
scroll down to ''camera''
if ''camera maker''and/or ''camera model'' is checked, uncheck these. press ok and retry edit.
as i said though, this may not work for you but it did for me. :)
I tried all of the above (except deleting my Kodak software). None of these worked for me and this is a random error. I dont get it all the time. Is there a way to contact Photo Gallery? I will not delete my Kodad software!
