Vista

I bought and installed Vista Ultimate. 80% of hardware does not work; half of the software does not work. No 3rd party driver. Even its own Microsoft products do not work (such as MS Works 2000, Wirless InteleMouse Explorer). Not only that, just installed Vista...nothing else is there, but when I opened explorer, it says "Program not responding (IE stopped working)! Simply a piece of shit! Do not buy it, wastage of money and time. If you have XP or 98 stick with it.
You already got screwed by Microsoft and don’t drain you money further.

Drivers

I really think that the lack of driver and unstable use of non-vista software is the hugest drawback to the vista OS. I can't beleve so many people commented on the general usability. Asside from all the downsides involving drivers, networking, and unusable old software, vista is a joy to use. I really hope Microsoft fixes these problems because surprisingly enough, i prefer the interface, and usability to xp. So pull your socks up Microsoft. Let's get this one right.

Disk Thrashing

Disk thrashing is a major problem with my installation of Vista, and web reserach tells me I'm not alone. I have 4GB RAM and a nice fast processor, and I've switched off many of the features which are supposed to cause disk thrashing, but Vista still decides to make me grind to a halt on a regular basis (not to mention the harm it's doing to my poor drives).

As an OS it has obvious bugs - and I've had it installed (with automatic updates) for a year now. Simple things drive me crazy - it has 'sexy' semi transparent windows, but when you click on a window behind the one you're looking at, it sometimes doesn't pull to the front - you have to minimise one window to see what's behind it!

Only the software industry could get away with rubbish like this. It handles reasonably well, but consumes vast resources and lets me down as a user.

windows vista E-mails

I cannot send or receive e-mail. I cannot delete a couple of stubborn e-mails. I am only receiving spam mail and nothing from everyday contacts. I cannot get tech support. My server told me it was Microsoft's problem, Microsoft told me it was HP's problem ( although Microsoft did say for $59.95 they would make it their problem!) HP told me it was a problem with the Windows Vista Program -----circle dance anyone???

Biggest Problem Vista Has is..DRIVERS!!!....

Still haven't had enough updated drivers as far as graphics in Intel Corporation. All this time now. Tryed to update and they don't have any thing that supports Vista yet. That's my main problem. But other than, that I guess its okay so far. Thanks for your time. Peace!

Drivers

Yes, I agree with the problems trying to get the latest updated driver for this Vista Premium which is Intel Express Chipset Family for my Monitor thats LCD HP wide Version. It will stop working then regain itself, then when comes up in errors that it refers to solve doesn't have. Will ASAP they can in fixing this problem. Is the message I get. I can't believe they have not even made updated drivers for Vista yet period. This is totally not right. When have this new Vista out. You need to have the right things to be accessable for you to fix and etc. Thank You
Mrs.MT :(

Windows Vista Home Premium

I play games alot on my computer. Ever since I have changed to Windows Vista I am unable to open games on the Pogo site. This is very frustrating!!! I am not computer illierite and don't understand alot of the computer technology. All I know is I never had any problems with Windows XP. I have had two computer techs come to my home and still not get it to working! I live in an area that does not offer high speed and am still on dial up. I have changed from Vista Basic to Vista Home Premium. A little better but not much. Please tell me there is a solution to this. Help!!!

seriously I hope they make a

seriously I hope they make a new blaster virus for vista in hopes that microsoft will get their product in gear, release a service pack and fix all these issued. I also agree... where is the "all of the above button?"... I miss little things like the "up one level" button in explorer, but I also miss the ability to run all my programs... but I also miss the drivers that worked so I didnt get blue-screens all the time... and I also miss... well everything that's why I dual boot my computers with vista/xp.

Vista will not work with currently sold hardware.

Visioneer had both the 9220 and 9320 scanner for sale after Vista was released. But offered no Vista compatable scanner at that time. Since, Vista was released, Visioneer discontinued the 9220 and is now offering a "End of Life" sale on the 9320 scanner. Their site is now saying "only listed devices with have Vista drivers", both the 9220 and 9320 as well as any older scanner is missing and now useless using Vista.
Is Vista so different that Visioneer can't develope drivers, or is Visioneer shafting it's customers, and hoping they will buy a new scanner from Visioneer?

Mustek does the same

I personally have the same problem with my Mustek scanners. They simply say on their website that:
Currently we don’t provide drivers or updates for Windows Vista.

Months have passed since the release of Windows Vista and they did not bother to offer any updates. This says a lot about certain companies which do not care about their own clients.

Usability

I voted usability.

Vista's interface-related innovations are a mess. They may solve the drivers and compatibility issues in one or two years, but drivers and apps won't drive away the cluttered and fscking slow Start menu, the cluttered My Computer interface, the unintuitive panels like the Volume Control panel and so on. I understand that they tried to offer more power to power users, but they started from the wrong place -- they cluttered an already simple and consistent interface, making it less intutitive and more annoying, but they are yet to update that horrible cmd.exe which is still little more than a refurbished CP/M shell.

I think there is no

I think there is no "biggest" problem.

The combination of all 4 above and the availability of the recent Linux distributions which put Vista to shame is the real problem. To many negative factors.

XP

If I remember correctly, didn't XP have issues when it was released?

Yes... it did

Yes... it did. Just like any other new operating system.

By creating this poll we just want to know what bothers people most and what Microsoft and other companies should focus on improving.

VISTA is a beta release

Very premature release, in my opinion. Lots of problems with almost every aspect of operation. Also, Microsoft hasn't even bothered to update some of its own software to be compatible, like Microsoft Money. The Windows Mobile Device Center SUCKS!

compatibility

it is amazing that a very good operating system like VISTA is only compatible with 1% of the existing softwares!

compatability

I have spent the last two weeks since my purchase trying to install the programs I use the most. Can't get anything to work!

This site is awesome. Vista

This site is awesome. Vista needs drivers.

Where is the option for "All

Where is the option for "All of the above"?

#3 seemed to cover things best for me.

Application Compatibilty seemed to cover the other 3 more or less.

Only one

I am afraid you have to choose only one issue as being the most important.

No support for after market programs/ and current driver support

I have the vista ultimate and like other people who went and purchased this os are haveing trouble with current driver issues because devices have stopped working prop. and the fact that vista doesnt support alot of 3 party and after market software. Microsoft needs to fix this and many other issues so i have decided untill they fix them ill just run xp for a little while longer.

vista

how long does it take for a service pack 2 to come after a new program like vista. i'm very unhappy with the vista program right now do to no drivers, half of my after market products dont work and that is upsetting.
