Enhance Windows DreamScene with Stardock Dreams

As a part of Windows Vista Ultimate Extras, Windows DreamScene has been in beta stages for quite a long time. After more than six months, Microsoft did not manage to offer a final version to its users. Also, the list of available video wallpapers is pretty slim.

Fortunately for the users, a company called Stardock produced two Windows DreamScene enhancement products which complement the scarce offerings from Microsoft: Stardock DeskScapes and Stardock DreamMaker.

Today, Lucien Chiong, in his first article written for our readers, will share with you the basics about these two products in the form of a short FAQ.

What are Dreams?

Dreams are high quality animated wallpapers that run exclusively on Windows Vista Ultimate and transform the static desktop into a world of motion and activity. Dreams are subtle, looped motion videos or animations that bring new life to the desktop without slowing down your PC. Watch a serene nature scene while you type an email. Glance at a meteor shower as you work on a document.

How can I use Dreams?

Currently, the prerequisites of using Dreams are the following: the operating system must be Windows Vista Ultimate, the computer must support WindowsAero, and Windows DreamScene needs to be installed.

May I directly use Dreams?

No. If your computer satisfies the conditions listed above, you need to install Stardock DeskScapes. You may download this software here and then install it.

Can I create my own Dreams?

Yes! Stardock has considered this kind demand from their users and therefore provided a free tool for this purpose: Stardock DreamMaker. You may download it from this link.

Where can I get more Dreams?

Stardock developed a dream gallery for its users. You can find many Dreams here and you can also upload your own and share them with others. Please note that even if most of the available Dreams are free of charge, some can be downloaded and used only if you pay a small charge.
