monitor wont wake up
Hi,
I have been having this trouble also. The only way i could get my monitor to wake up is to completely unplug it for 10 or so seconds, then reboot and u should have a picture. I will try the above suggestions to see if any fix this problem.
Ha! I just had the same
Ha! I just had the same problem today, put it in sleep mode last nite won't wake up....tried restarting, yada, yada, yada. Read on another forum to trun off the wireless card. I simply pressed my wireless internet card to off and pressed the power button and I was up and running. Hope this helps.
Screen
I've found this page because I have the same problem. In my case the monitor fails to display.
When the PC goes into sleep, it can be brought out by clicking the PC power button. The monitor is plugged into a power socket that is only live when the PC is drawing power. When the PC comes out of sleep the keyboard lights up suggesting that is working. The monitor power LED is lit suggesting that has power but it does not display the usual windows screen.
Might Help!
There is a chance that the problems you are having are caused by the fact that the Hibernation file was removed and the computer cannot properly resume from sleep.
More details can be found here:
Prevent problems by disabling Hibernation File removal from Disk Cleanup
To make sure you enable back the hibernation feature so that the computer can resume from sleep correctly, use this article: Save space by turning off hibernation and hybrid sleep. There you have instructions on how to torn on and off Hibernate.
Same thing happened to me.
If you have found the solution please share. also if anyone knows. I will post it here if later i can find the solution to fix it.
So i accidentally pressed the sleep button the pc (vista ultimate) went to sleep mode and won't wake up! Even after I turned off and turn on the pc again (I did this many times). Keyboard and mouse displays led light but they don't work. pc power on, monitor power on, but the screen won't display anything. and one thing i noticed was when i turned on the pc for after 2 seconds it went off then turned back on again. however this doesnt happen anymore after i plugged out the memory cards and video card and put them back in. the starting process seems normal now but there's still no display on the screen. Tried plugging out memory cards and wipe them with soft white cloth. Tried different monitors (cos i thought maybe it was monitor problem). No luck.
Please help
Solved it!
What I did was to remove the BIOS BATTERY and put it back in. It's now all working normally. I think what happened was that even though the pc was turned off, that 'sleep mode' setting was stored and activated when the pc turned on, so when the bios battery removed the bios was reset. So now what's left to do is to fix the sleep mode problem in my vista so this won't happen again (I will also run windows update - been a while since I updated my windows, some recent updates probably can fix this problem). I don't want to rest bios again because the pc accidentally went to sleep mode.
Hope it helps anyone with similar problem.
thanks for your help! this
thanks for your help! this totally solved my problem which is pretty much what everyone in this thread is talking about. i removed my power cord then removed the battery for about 2 mins and then put it back in and powered on and it booted up! i had to run my bios setup to update the date and time and it went back to the previous state it was in before the pc went to sleep
Is the battery you speak of
Is the battery you speak of the large watch type? How do I get it out and back in w/out damaging the battery holder?
How do I identify the network card?
PC wont wake from sleep.
I have had this problem a few times. Now I switch off and unplug the power .I leave this for about 5 mins.On switching on I leave everything for some seconds and the pc then decides to wake up.
Exactly the same thing here
Hey guys
I'm having the exact same problem here with my desktop PC. After I wake the system from sleep the startup-sound plays, keyboard and mouse become active and I can even logon with my password but the screen remains black. Interestingly enough the screen IS receiving a signal from the graphics card - if I unplug the screen from the graphics card then I get the usual message "no signal" displayed. As soon as I plug it in again the "no signal" goes away and the screen goes black. So Vista must actually be "sending" an all-black signal to the screen.
Shutting the PC down (either by navigating the start menu bling and shutting down regularly or by pressing the power button) does NOT seem to solve the problem. After powering on again the PC boots normally (it takes 30 seconds longer then usual if you shut it down with the power button because it'll ask you if you want to start in safe mode. If I simply wait then I hear the windows startup sound, can log in etc. but the screen remains black.
I've found two possible ways to get Vista working again:
a) put the PC back into sleep mode, wait a moment and wake it again. In my case this _sometimes_ wakes the screen up again. If that fails then
b) Shutdown the PC, unplug the tower, press the power button, wait 5 min, plug in the PC again and boot.
To prevent this from happing again I did two things:
a) disabled sleep in vista
b) setup a windows XP installation on a second partition so I have at least one semi-bug-free operating system. ;-)
Cheers
