I have a wierd problem with some of the video files that I have. Most of them are .avi but some of them are in the .mpg video format. When I import them into Windows Movie Maker I can not create a video movie because Movie Make changes the properties from video to audio. This does not happen on all of my video files but just enough of them to be a pain. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Thanks,
same problem, vista is an @sshole
I'm having the SAME EXACT PROBLEM right now! I dunno how to fix the problem but I'll tell you what I've tried. I went on WMM forums and they said I should download the Vista Codec Package Version 4.7.3. Tried it, didn't work. Downloading the DivX codec didn't work for me either. But yea, I'm scouring the internet for a solution right now. Sorry I couldn't help tho. :/
Hi I have the same problem.

erm... not a semi-fix at all! This was about getting avi's to show up in Movie Maker. I already CAN see the avi in GOM player, and Media Player... we need to get it to show up in Vista's _Movie Maker_
i have the same problem
i tried downloading a divx but it doesn't really help
i'm looking for something to fix this but still haven't found anything.
if you find out how to fix it please tell me!
x64 Drivers
Hi,
I had the same issue on my Vista x64. It seems that Vista Movie Maker is a 64bit only application on Vista x64 and will only load up 64bit vide codecs. Media Player runs in 32bit and can use some of the 32bit codecs that you will have installed. My advice is to check the version of AVI file that you have and try and download and install te 54bit versions of the codec. This certainly worked for me. Good luck!

I have this problem often, especially when I use video captured on my flip video. The way I get it to work is to restart my computer a couple times and eventully it imports the vids as video files. I hate having to deal with it though.
Found a program that seems to
Found a program that seems to work. you can convert the video files to WMV and it will then import without any problems. the program is Prism Video Converter
Movie Maker
Hmm seems like there is no fix for this. this is a rather big issue as there are alot of people who make AMV's and other types of video. I looked for the 54bit drivers and they are rather hard to find i would say. is there a specific site where you found them?
this is what i am running for media player
Windows Media Player 11
MPC (media player classic)
i had to update both of these with new codecs to be able to view the AVI/MKV files that i work with on my computer.
i'll continue looking for these drivers stated but idoubt ill find them
64 bit not 54
It should be 64 bit drivers, not 54 bit. They do not exist. If you search for drivers, search for 64 bit drivers.
