Need to erase Hard Disk

I want to erase all my data and even win.98 from hard disk (old assembled pc.) Please name a free software to erase my hard disk entirely. I want to erase everything from my hard disk even formatting and partitions to bring it new factory condition. Please note that I will use that hard disk and install vista and not going to destroy it forever. Thanks.

The hard disk can be erased during the Windows Vista installation. At the very beginning you have the option to format your hard disk and erase all data.
