Setting up a wireless internet connection

I am trying to set up a wireless internet connection on my daughters laptop without success.
She has an acer aspire laptop using Vista. Her internet connection is sky broadband. Her router is a Netgear super wireless adsl dg834 supplied by Sky.
I have read various Tutorials but still have not managed to crack it.
Could anybody explain what I need to do and exactly in what order Many thanks Silver Fox.

XP host Vista laptop connection issues

I am at my normally super patient wits end! I have done the tutorials, typed in the network key more times than I can count. Have a wired XP host, Linksys router, and now 1 wireless XP laptop, which connects without a problem, and 1 Compaq and 1 Dell 1420 laptops (Vista) that cannot connect, even though the signal strength is excellent, limited connectivity (no connectivity)
I have disabled windows firewall. How about the various virus protection (McAfee), should I disable those as well?

Please help me!

Hard to tell

It is really hard to tell why your Windows Vista laptops do not connect to the wireless network. It think it would be best to have someone who knows their networks well take a look at the router and the configuration of your Windows Vista laptops.

PS: Is your wireless adapter enabled on the laptops? They usually have a button used to turn on the wireless adapter.

DELL LAPTOP WONT CONNECT TO NETGEAR VIA WIRELESS

Hi. I hope someone can help!

My neighbour has a Dell laptop that used to work wirelessly using a Netgear router! It has stopped working wireless now! If he connects the cable (cat5) direct to the router he can connect to the internet but not wireless as he is using a cable.

I can scan networks and it picks up 5 or so of our neighbours networks so I can assume that the wireless card must work asits picking up other networks, but it wont see the NETGEAR switch/hub!

Has anyone got any ideas?

Many thanks

Matt
