I have used all the directions to add a new account to windows mail and I keep getting the following error message. Can someone assist me in my dilemma?
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: 'pop.gmail.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
Thanks

Don't feel like the lone ranger Karen
I am so frustrated I am ready to sell my brand new laptop and desktop BOTH because of the frustration I am feeling right now when trying to get my windows mail set up. I feel as if I could learn to like Vista but when I get an error message every time I turn a corner it gets to be sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo frustrating and quite frankly, I am not willing to nor do I have the time to mess with all of the 'quirks and glitches' in Vista. Windows mail is only one of them but has proven to be the most frustrating of all. I enter the incoming and outgoing server addresses, etc. (did it two times now) and I STILL keep getting the error message regarding the pop/smtp server, bla bla bla and then I am literally STUCK! Since my HP printer will only work through windows mail (which is a crock) I simply cannot scan, attach to an email and send. Don't know whether to cry or laugh. Sometimes it is almost hilarious!

Setting up gmail
I used the google information and I have set up three computers at home
and five at school with g mail.
They all work fine now.
Had the same problem at first.
I then did a screen shot of the home computers and copied them at school.
You have to be really careful not to add an extra dot or space anywhere.
Have you adjusted your setting in your g mail account?
Do this before you do your windows mail.
Sign in to g mail and go to settings.
then forwarding and pop/imap.
Good luck
Gmail and Windows Mail
I did an add email in Windows mail and changed the setup in gmail as per istructions. Still will not work. Did this a number of times and "carefully" made sure everything was perfect. Still would not get past he pop3 while trying to access. Am at my wits end. I have a friend who uses gmail through Outlook and it works fine. Mine will not work in Outlook, Windows Mail, or Outlook Express ( on my laptop ). Any help would be appreciated.
Yeah i had a problem trying
Yeah i had a problem trying to get it sorted out as well, then i realised i had
pop.google.com
smtp.google.com
when it should have been:
pop.gmail.com
smtp.gmail.com
Gotta watch out for that.
